Pete Thomas, Colorado State's starting quarterback the past two seasons, has transferred to North Carolina State.
Coach Steve Fairchild gave Thomas a chance to be CSU's starting quarterback as a freshman in 2010. Fairchild was fired in December, which set the wheels in motion for Thomas' departure from Fort Collins. The QB met with new coach Jim McElwain, formerly the OC at Alabama, but Thomas felt it best to move on. He will have to sit out one year before playing his final two seasons with the Wolfpack. In his two seasons with the Rams, Thomas threw for 4,269 yards with 18 TDs and 21 INTs. Garrett Grayson, the only remaining CSU QB with major-college experience, made three starts at the end of 2011 when Thomas was out with a knee injury. Grayson will be a sophomore.
